The Demands from The Rulers of CHOP/CHAZ Are Insane!
Barry Nussbaum: Welcome to ATP Report, I'm Barry Nussbaum. Did you know that the CHOP takeover of downtown Seattle was apparently supported by the mayor of Seattle? You heard me, and I'm not kidding. Mayor Durkin has expressed her support for the peaceful demonstrations and has described it as an act of patriotism, lawfully gathering, and expressing their First Amendment rights, and demanding we do a better job as a society and providing true equity for communities of color. And that's not terrorism, that's patriotism, that mayor says. That's a quote. I guess that means a summer of love, as she calls it, includes her support for, quote, we demand a retrial of all people of color currently serving a prison sentence for a violent crime by a jury of their peers in this community. That's a demand. It's a real CHAZ or CHOP organizer's demand. They demand that such a policy would mean that all non-white, violent convicted criminals have their existing convictions and sentences expunged. And all of them be given new trials with only non-whites on the juries. Yeah, you heard me. Another CHOP demand states that, quote, prisoners currently serving time be given full and unrestricted rights to vote. Yeah, you heard me. Which means in Washington state, there's going to be legislation that's going to break away from federal law that prevents felons from being able to vote. So the policy would mean that close to 40,000 inmates serving sentences in local jails, state prisons, and federal prisons inside the boundaries of Washington state would be guaranteed the right to vote in all local, state, and federal elections. Never mind the fact that while the federal government may have an issue with it, they have a more extensive list, i.e., all marijuana-related and resisting arrest offenses are immediately expunged. That means all the drug dealers, some of whom may have connections to the Mexican drug cartels, are set free. I've got more. Their list of demands also includes the following. I'll just quote it. We demand that the funding previously used for Seattle police be all redirected into one, socialized health and medicine for the city of Seattle. Two, free public housing because housing is a right, not a privilege. Three, public education to decrease the average class size in city schools and increased teacher salaries. Actually, I like that one. Four, they want naturalization services for immigrants in the United States living here undocumented. We demand they be called undocumented because no person is illegal. Footnote: That's twenty-two million people who are here illegally as felons would be immediate citizens of the United States. Five, general community development of parks, et cetera. Oh, boy.
