The Palestine Liberation Organization’s secretary general, and their lead negotiator Saeb Erekat insulted US Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Nikki Haley calling her “impudent” and said she should learn to “shut up” and refrain from criticizing Palestinian Authority (PA) head Mahmoud Abbas. Among other wild comments, Erekat said US Ambassador Haley “called for overthrowing the democratically elected Palestinian president.” Palestinan President Abbas was elected to a four year term in 2005, and since then no elections have been held. The majority of Palestinians want him out of office, but without elections since 2005 that has not been possible.
