Netanyahu Speech Revives Anti-Regime Protests In Iran
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s televised speech revealing Iran’s covert weapons program was meant to influence the US, Europe and the IAEA in regard to the future of the JCPOA. European leaders claimed to be unaffected by the publication of the material, that nothing new was revealed, despite it proving that Iran entered the Agreement under false pretense. But, the massive display of indisputable evidence has affected an even more important audience, the PEOPLE of Iran. The Iranian currency is plummeting, unemployment is high and the economy is teetering; regular citizens do not want to feel the consequences of additional sanctions that would accompany a US pullout from the Deal. They are also angry that the mullahs have spent the financial windfall received from simply signing the Deal, on the IRGC, Hezbollah, HAMAS and other destabilizing terror groups in the Middle East, instead of on infrastructure, education and building a their economy. Oh, and they’re not real eager to be on the receiving end of Israeli and/or US missile strikes.
Though the intended audience of Netanyahu’s speech might not have been swayed, its unintended result is the revitalization of the revolt against the genocidal regime in Tehran. With the Iranian economy on the verge of collapse, additional US sanctions can pull the last wobbly leg of the stool from beneath it. Withdrawing from the disastrous JCPOA and supporting the Iranian people, unlike president Obama in 2009’s Green Revolution, is the way to defeat the regime of the Islamic Republic without ever firing a shot, while returning the country of Iran to its citizens.
