Days after receiving a $2.5 billion aid package from Saudi Arabia and the UAE, an effort to stem the biggest anti-government street protests in its recent history, Jordan recalled its ambassador to Iran. The foreign ministry stated the reason behind the move was Iranian interference in Arab nations’ affairs and “harming the principle of good neighborliness.” This coincides with the current Saudi led coalition offensive against the Iranian backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, as well as alleged Hezbollah and various other Shi’ite militias amassing forces near the Syria/Jordan/Israel border along the Southern Golan Heights. The Saudis will not allow the Hashemite Kingdom of King Abdullah to fall under Iranian control, the line has been drawn in the desert sand, it’s Jordan’s border.
