House Foreign Affairs Committee Approves Israel Anti-Boycott Act
In an effort to combat the economic warfare being waged against Israel, via the Boycott, Divest & Sanctions Movement, the US House Foreign Affairs Committee approved the ‘Israel Anti-Boycott Act’. The Act prohibits American companies from complying with international attempts to boycott the Jewish state, such as the UN Human Rights Council’s “Black List” of Israeli businesses that were targeted.
This is a defeat for the BDS Movement, it is a victory for Israel, and the Arabs employed at Israeli factories and farms. The BDS Movement has taken thousands of jobs away from the same people they purport to be fighting for, proving that its purpose is the destruction of Israel, not improving the lives of “their people”. Despite global efforts to weaken it, the Israeli economy continues to flourish, while many Arabs that once worked at Jewish owned businesses find themselves unemployed.
The Act now goes to the House for a full a vote, where it is expected to pass with bipartisan support. This will not end the antisemitic BDS Movement’s efforts to weaken and isolate Israel, nor will it bring back the thousands of lost jobs once held by Arab workers, but it is a small step in preventing the loss of more. More importantly, it is yet another example of the special relationship between the United States and Israel.
