Top Six Pro-Hamas Myths

Published

Hello, and welcome to ATP’s, Really Dumb Things, They Said. I’m Barry Nussbaum.

As the latest Gaza conflict has ended, it’s worthwhile to examine the six most cited pro-Hamas myths, mainstream, and social media, that are being used to justify the terror war waged by Hamas.

  1. Hamas is the underdog. In truth, Hamas is supported by big-time heavyweights in the radical Islamist world like Iran, Turkey, and Qatar. They send Hamas hundreds of millions of dollars and weapons. Hamas has amassed an arsenal of 14,000 deadly missiles to use against Israel. Not a weakling.
  2. Israel occupies Palestinian territory in Gaza. Wrong. Israel retreated entirely from the Gaza Strip in 2005, and it ruled completely over the 2 million people by Hamas. They attacked Israel from there. There’s been a blockade because Hamas won’t stop firing missiles.
  3. Palestinians want their own state, but they can’t have it. Not true. Israel has offered them, three times in 21 years, their own state, but each time they could have had it, they said, no. They’ve chosen to squander all the resources to create terror against Israel.
  4. Hamas is fighting for the Palestinian people. Wrong. Hamas is a brutal dictatorship that has no functioning relationship or cooperation with the PA, and there are 2 million people in the West Bank. The two groups, Hamas and the PA, are bitter enemies. Nor does Hamas represent the Palestinian people in Gaza. The people there under its rule haven’t had an election in 15 years, and they never will.
  5. Hamas says Israel is stealing land in Jerusalem. No. There’s a property dispute because rent hasn’t been paid, and it’s an eviction. It went to the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court hasn’t ruled yet.
  6. Israel wants to take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Not true. Muslims manage the temple, the Temple Mount, and pray there, thousands a day. Israel has no plans to change it, and Jews are not even allowed to pray on the Temple Mount. Their holiest site in the world. All of these justifications for supporting Hamas are simply false.

They are verifiably fake news, which makes them dumb arguments, and the people who espouse and promote these viewpoints all over the web are dumb as well. Get educated, would you?
